Women’s World Cup 2027 draw
Eight groups · date to be announced
The group draw decides which of the eight groups each qualified team lands in, and therefore the route every side takes through the tournament. The 2027 draw has not been scheduled publicly yet.
Date, time, host city and broadcast details are all unannounced. This page updates when they are published.
When will it happen?
Unannounced — but the sequence is fixed by the qualifying calendar. Three of the 32 places are still open and go to the play-off tournament, whose final phase ends on . A draw held before that would leave three slots unfilled, so the draw follows it.
How the draw works
Thirty-two teams go into eight groups of four. Hosts Brazil are seeded into Group A — that is already fixed in the published fixture list, which is why the schedule shows Brazil in the opening match while every other slot is a placeholder.
The remaining teams are sorted into pots by the world ranking published closest to the draw: the strongest sides in Pot 1, the next in Pot 2, and so on. One team is then drawn from each pot into each group, which is what keeps the top-ranked sides apart until the knockout rounds.
A second constraint normally applies: no group may contain two teams from the same confederation, with an exception for Europe, which sends more qualifiers than there are groups and so can have two European sides in one group. The exact rules for 2027 are confirmed when the draw procedure is published.
The pots
Not published. Pot composition depends on both the final list of 32 qualifiers and the world ranking at the time, so it cannot be settled until the play-off tournament finishes in March 2027.
What changes when the draw happens
Every placeholder on the match schedule becomes a team name: the group-stage cards resolve immediately, and the knockout cards resolve as the tournament plays out. Team pages, calendars and the printable wallchart follow from there.
Kick-off times are a separate announcement and may land before or after the draw. Until they do, the final and every other fixture show the date and venue without a time.
